(15) 1875 - Conveyance Grizzell to Cox - 43 & 44 High Street
1875: Indenture dated 25th March 1875 between:-
- Philemon Land of Tewkesbury ironmonger and James Roberts of Kemerton gent
- George Edmund Cox of Liverpool Lancashire dealer in fancy goods
- Daniel Devereux of Tewkesbury surgeon
Whereas William Grizzell late of Kemerton deceased died in possession of the freehold hereditament hereinafter described and by his Will dated 20th November 1869 he gave all his real estate to his friends John Hillman and John Tucker UPON TRUST to pay his wife Sarah or permit her to receive rents for her life if she remained his widow – and afterwards to sell
And Whereas on 19th June 1873 said William Grizzell executed codicil whereby he appointed Philemon Land and said James Roberts trustees in place of John Hillman and John Tucker William Grizzell died 22nd September 1873 and buried at Kemerton
Sarah his wife died 27th July 1874 and buried at Kemerton
Philemon Land and James Roberts sold by Public Auction at Swan Hotel on 24th February 1875 when George Edmund Cox was highest bidder of LOTS 1 and 2 for sum of £425
The Lots – part of estate of greater value sold to Daniel Devereux and Deeds transferred to him with covenant for George Edmund Cox to view.
ALL THOSE “ MESSUAGES adjoining together situate in High Street formerly in the tenure of Robert Smith and Mary Probert – then of Henry Baker and William Thomas – afterwards of William Gibbs and James Turner and now of Robert Lane and John Calway – having a Messuage called “Anchor Inn” on South side and Messuage formerly of Joseph Peace (baker) – afterwards of Thomas Alexander Johns and now of Charles Mather – formerly in occupation of Joseph Andrews and now of John Coales on North side
