Document: Indenture of Release [Lease inside] dated 22nd December 1831 between:-

  2. William Moore of Tewkesbury wine merchant; John Sweet of Tewkesbury tailor; William Eagles of Tewkesbury innkeeper and Sarah his wife
  3. John Pritchard of Tewkesbury hosier
  4. Joseph Hawkes of Tewkesbury victualler
  5. Thomas Bowers of Tewkesbury grocer
  6. Thomas Player of Tewkesbury gent
  7. Samuel Fryzer of Tewkesbury gent

WHEREAS by Indenture dated 25th December 1727 between Sarah Jones and Samuel Hayward – Sarah Jones granted to Samuel Hayward the messuage described for 1000 years subject to proviso

AND WHEREAS by Indenture dated 1st January 1820 between:-

  1. John Pritchard and John Ancill
  2. John Winning and Kitty his wife
  3. Harry Rooke
  4. Bartholomew Sweet

for £150 to John Pritchard paid by John Ancill he was granted – 

ALL THAT MESSUAGE lying in High Street on North side formerly in occupation of William Gardner stonemason since of Richard Heath deceased after of said John Pritchard and now of Carew Noxon cordwainer – having

Messuage belonging to representatives of late Mary Cooper widow deceased in occupation of Mary Bassett widow on one side

and Messuage belonging to representatives of Thomas Holland esq deceased in occupation of Jeremiah Heath on the other – to hold to use of Thomas Bowers during the life of Joseph Hawkes

[Bartholomew Sweet died 13th November 1827 – Will made 18th March 1826 – John Jeynes and William Moore executors – Codicil: made 9th November 1827 appointed John Sweet in place of John Jeynes and daughter Sarah Sweet in conjunction with said William Moore – all three proved Will at Gloucester – Sarah Sweet married William Eagles]

AND WHEREAS said Joseph Hawkes agreed with John Pritchard for sale for £265 and it is agreed that £184 due to John Ancill shall be paid out of purchase money
