Indenture dated 25th September 1879 between:-

1. Edward Gillman of Stow on the Wold bank cashier and Eleanor Mary his wife, formerly Eleanor Mary Hayward spinster
2. William Evans Hayward of Tewkesbury ironmonger; Leonard Hayward of Handsworth Warwickshire and Charles Weston Hayward of 36 Congreve Street Birmingham ironmonger
3. Thomas Raynsford of Tewkesbury greengrocer

Whereas by Indenture dated 13th October 1858 made between:-

1. Benjamin Perks Procter
2. Thomas Applebee
3. William Grizzell
4. George Hayward since deceased

For consideration therein mentioned the said Benjamin Perks Procter conveyed and the said Thomas Applebee released the said Messuage or Tenement and Hereditaments hereinafter described to the use of George Hayward and his heirs forever

George Hayward made his Will dated 21st December 1858 and gave Ann his wife (since deceased)  the rents and issues for her life and immediately after her death he devised the same unto his daughter Eleanor Mary Gillman (in said Will called Ellen Mary) and her heirs forever

ALL THAT MESSUAGE or Dwelling House and Premises with the outoffices thereto belonging situate in the High Street and then in the occupation of Charles Skey as tenant (being the hereditaments hereinafter described and expressed to be granted)

And Testator appointed Ann his wife sole executor

Testator died at Tewkesbury 16th September 1859 and Will was proved at Gloucester Probate Registry on 15th November 1859 by Ann Hayward

The said George Hayward left 4 children surviving him namely – Williams Evans Hayward; Eleanor Mary Hayward; Leonard Hayward and Charles Weston Hayward

Said Eleanor Mary Hayward was married to Edward Gillman at Tewkesbury Abbey on 22nd October 1863

Ann Hayward died at Tewkesbury on 9th May 1879

All duty having been paid the Messuage and Premises was put up for sale by auction at The Kings Head Tewkesbury on 8th July 1879 and at which sale Thomas Raynsford was highest bidder and declared purchaser for £225

Now this Indenture Witnesseth that in consideration of £225 said Edward Gillman and Eleanor Mary Gillman his wife conveyed and released unto Thomas Raynsford

ALL THAT MESSUAGE or Tenement (used as a shop) situate and being no. 29 High Street with the garden, detached back kitchen and workshop over the same and other buildings and premises formerly in the occupation of John Garrison then of Charles Skey but now of Thomas Raynsford having –
A Messuage or Tenement formerly belonging to George Smith but now of Messrs Dobell & Co on the North
A Messuage or Tenement formerly of Henry Sheppard since of Richard Collins and recently sold to Francis Jelleyman on the South
And extending from the High Street in front to a passage leading into Smiths Lane at the back part thereof
To hold to Thomas Raynsford and his heirs forever

Covenants of Good Right and Title

Signed by Edward and Eleanor Mary Gillman; Williams Evans Hayward; Leonard Hayward and Charles Weston Hayward

Note in margin states that Eleanor Mary Gillman was examined separately and acknowledged that it was her own voluntary act to agree to the sale
