In the name of God Amen – I Robert Smith of Tewkesbury in the County of Gloucester, Gentleman being of sound mind, memory and understanding do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say):-

First: I direct and order all my just debts funeral and testamentory expenses to be paid and discharged by my Executors hereinafter named.

I give and devise unto Robert Smith of Tewkesbury aforesaid, baker, son of my nephew William Smith of the same place – ALL THOSE TWO MESSUAGES or tenements adjoining together with the buildings and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate and lying and being in the High Street in Tewkesbury aforesaid now in my own possession and in the occupation of [blank] Wilkins widow – to hold the same premises unto and to the use of the said Robert Smith his heirs and assigns forever.

Also I give and devise unto my niece Elizabeth Smith (who now lives with me), daughter of George Smith, whitesmith deceased – ALL THAT MESSUAGE or tenement with the buildings and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate lying and being in the said High Street in Tewkesbury aforesaid late in the occupation of William Morgan as my tenant thereof – to hold the said last mentioned premises unto and to the use of the said Elizabeth Smith her heirs and assigns forever.

Also I give and devise unto George Smith son of my nephew William Smith above named – ALL THAT MESSUAGE or tenement with the appurtenances situate lying and being in a certain alley called Herbers Alley in the High Street and now in the occupation of Joseph Mann, fisherman as my tenat thereof – to hold the said last mentioned premises unto and to the use of the said George Smith his heirs and assigns forever.

Also I give and devise unto William Vevers the younger of Tewkesbury aforesaid, stocking framework knitter – ALL THAT OTHER MESSUAGE or tenement with the appurtenances situate and lying and being in the said alley called Herbers Alley now in the occupation of Thomas Hughes waterman as my tenant thereof – to hold the said last mentioned premises unto the said William Vevers the younger and his heirs and [these last 2 words have been crossed through] assigns for and during the term of his natural life and from and immediately after his decease I give and devise the said last mentioned Messuage or tenement unto [blank] the wife of the said William Vevers the younger and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life – and from and immediately after the several deceases of them the said William Vevers the younger and his wife I give and devise the same Messuage or tenement with the appurtenances unto and to the use of my said niece Elizabeth Smith daughter of the said George Smith deceased her heirs and assigns forever.

Also I give and devise unto Mary Smith of Tewkesbury aforesaid widow of my late nephew Thomas Smith whitesmith deceased – ALL THAT MESSUAGE or tenement with the appurtenances now in her own possession lying behind a Messuage or Tenement lately belonging to me in the occupation of Joseph Scott – to hold the said last mentioned premises unto the said Mary Smith and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease I give and devise the last mentioned Messuage or tenement [with the appurtenances crossed out] and premises unto and to the use of her son Robert Smith his heirs and assigns forever.
