1743: Indenture of Lease for a year dated 2nd December 1743 between:

  1. Arnold Russell of Hereford gent
  2. Thomas Mason of Tewkesbury tobacconist – only son and heir of Charles Mason late of Tewkesbury tobacconist deceased
  3. Hester Mann of Tewkesbury widow

1743: Indenture Tripartite of Assignment of Mortgage dated 3rd December 1743 between:-

  1. Arnold Russell of Hereford gent
  2. Thomas Mason of Tewkesbury tobacconist – only son and heir of Charles Mason late of Tewkesbury tobacconist deceased
  3. Hester Mann of Tewkesbury widow

Whereas by Indenture of Lease and Release dated 22nd / 23rd September 1736 made between:-

  1. Thomas Mason party hereto
  2. Said Arnold Russell – the said Thomas Mason for considerations mentioned did grant and sell to Arnold Russell -

ALL THOSE 4 SEVERAL MESSUAGES or tenements situate in Tewkesbury in High Street otherwise Oldbury Street and the Key Lane – 2 whereof are adjoining together having messuage belonging to said Thomas mason called “The Anchor” on South side and messuage of Joseph Peace on North part and were then in possession of John Baxter and Robert Smith and now of William Probert and said Robert Smith

AND THE OTHER 2 thereof also adjoining together having the messuage called “Anchor” on North and messuage of one Joseph Eyler on the South side and were and are now in tenure of Elizabeth Haines and Margaret Harrison

  • To hold unto said Arnold Russell upon payment of £100 and interest –
  • and now owing is £110-19s-0d

and Thomas Mason having occasion for further sum of £39-10s-0d the said Hester Mann hath advanced same on said security – Now this indenture witnesseth etc etc
